The Virginia Eye Institute is hiring! VEI is a large and dynamic practice of ophthalmologists and optometrists in the Richmond, VA area, including seven locations and an ambulatory surgery center. We are searching for an Optical Sales Associate to join our Westchester office. We are seeking candidates with a passion for eye health and a dedication to excellent patient care. We are seeking reliable candidates with outstanding patient service skills. The ideal candidate will be a team-player, self-starter, friendly, motivated, organized, and have the ability to work independently while sustaining a team environment. A caring demeanor and the ability to build and maintain patient rapport is critical. The candidate must be highly productive, eager to learn, and motivated to succeed.
This position will be responsible for creating a welcoming and courteous environment while establishing a positive encounter with patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Optical Sales Associate is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts taking into account the patients lifestyle, facial features, occupation, hobbies, and habits to assist patients in choosing the best eyewear for their needs.

The ideal candidate will:

• Provide excellent patient service
• Posse strong interpersonal communication skills
• Have the ability to operate an auto-lensometer and a manual lensometer
• Educate patients on lenses based on the patients occupation, hobby, and/or frame style
• Actually collect measurements such as a bridge, eye size, temple length and sag heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
• Accurately check in all orders to ensure quality
• Dispense eyewear
• Repair and adjust patient frames
• Assist in other areas when needed

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education: HS diploma or equivalent; prefer Associates degree or some college education
Previous optical sales experience helpful
Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, management, and co-workers
Demonstrates attention to detail
